Aster oblongifolius (Aromatic Aster) 50 Flower Seeds

Dazzling mounds of purple-blue blooms for the late fall garden. Flowers are larger than usual for asters. Its balsam-scented foliage attracts many beneficial insects and is especially valued for native bees. Prefers dry, rocky or sandy soils, so plant where the soil has good drainage. Overall height with blooms is 24”. Best in full sun, blooming from early to late fall. Perennial in USDA Hardiness Zones 3-9. (Symphyotrichum oblongifolium)Seed sowing instructions: Direct sow in late fall or early spring, planting it just under the surface and watering once. To start indoors, 4-6 weeks before your last frost date, select a well-drained sterile seed starting mix. Prior to sowing, water the container well to the point of drip. Sow the seed and cover with medium vermiculite. DO NOT water the seeds after sowing or the day following sowing. Maintain even moisture and a soil temperature of 70ºF/21ºC. After the first 2 days, water the seedlings as needed allowing the media to dry slightly in between watering. An overly wet soil will decrease germination. After germination supply plenty of light and air circulation. Plant out after all danger of frost.We only ship to the 50 states in the U.S.A.
