True Nymphaea caerulea (Egyptian Blue Lily) seeds (last of the season) | Open-pollinated | 10 seeds | 2025
**LAST OF THE 2025 SEASON**Seed sales will resume in the Spring.10 seeds from the rare Nymphaea caerulea plant.AKA Egyptian Blue Lily, the Sacred Blue Lily of the Nile, Nymphaea nouchali var. caerulea. This species is also sometimes called Egyptian Blue Lotus even though it is unrelated to the Nelumbo genus. These seeds are less than 1mm in diameter. I do not sell Nelumbo nucifera, aka lotus seeds, which are 10mm+ in diameter. Please watch the videos linked below for more details. All seeds are from the 2025 growing season and will be labeled with the exact flower date of harvest. The current batch was produced on 10 JUL 2025.These are not bulk-ordered seeds from a distributor. I cultivate, harvest, prepare, and ship these seeds myself. I do not use stock photos.Note: These are open-pollinated seeds.N. caerulea is self-compatible, and there are no other Nymphaea close to me, so it could breed true. However, I cannot guarantee that.Rhizomes are the only way to be sure that your plant will be true to the original.First germinations in 10-14 days. True leaves emerge in 3-5 weeks.Germination tested 27 JUL 2025: 93% germination fraction (14/15 seeds)Germination instructions:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHhbNkiCzgQIf you don't need the seeds to be sterile for in vitro work, the sulfuric acid and other chemicals I recommend in my germination video aren't necessary. I have found that without scarification, the seeds will still germinate as well, but they tend to germinate a bit slower. I am working on an updated video with more accessible instructions. N. caerulea are not like other water lilies! They need special conditions for germination. Please watch the video for detailed instructions.Morphology and Identification of the true Nymphaea caerulea:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWRVhzjb-20Research and my grow log can be found:https://www.electricveg.com/nymphaeaeceae/nymphaea-caerulea.htmlIf you have any questions or concerns, please email me at elijah [!at] electricveg.com.
